64 ounces per day? Seriously? How on earth am I gonna do that. I know, I used to think that too, but it’s time to drink up… and I don’t mean at your next happy hour. In her latest stay-healthy initiative, Cat Kom from Studio SWEAT onDemand, helps those who are struggling to meet their H2O daily quota. Follow these simple tips to stay hydrated!
1: Make it common practice to drink 8-12 ounces of water within an hour of waking up. Trust me, you’ll begin to crave and need it. I don’t leave the house for kid drop off or work until that is done! No matter how much water you consumed the day before, your body will be naturally dehydrated after sleep and will crave a refill. Immediate rehydration comes with noticeable benefits such as feeling more refreshed, storing energy for the day and firing up that metabolism. Adding that liquid heaven to your morning routine may be the best decision you make!
2: Remembering how much water you consume daily can be a challenge but Cat has the solution! Grab yourself a water bottle that works for all times of the day and that is large enough so you don’t have to be constantly refilling it. If it’s 32 oz, that’s only 2! Having a water bottle you love will help significantly and will become your new drinking companion!
3: Gaining maximum benefits for your body means drinking at the right time of day. Drink one glass of water before a meal to help with digestion, after a meal to help absorb the nutrients as well as burn the calories and before sleep to balance hormones, minerals and to replenish any fluid loss that can occur during the night.
4: Stick to room temperature water to avoid the brain freeze that comes alongside iced water. Cold water causes the blood vessels surrounding the stomach to shrink, making room temperature water the best for hydration! Benefits of room temperature water include breaking down food, aiding constipation and assisting in weight loss. Besides, you can slam a glass of room temp water, and some days that the best course to get it down!
5: Keep your friends close, but your water closer. If you’re glued to your desk or stuck in traffic, chances are you’re not thinking about consuming your daily intake of water but the fix is always keeping a water bottle nearby! Leave it in plain sight in your car or near your workplace so that you’re constantly reminded!
By following these simple tricks, you’ll be an aquaholic in no time!
