A.J. has been in the fitness field for over 10 years. She first started as a recreation attendant while finishing college and receiving her BA in Environmental Studies. However, years of working in the gym and after losing 80 lb.s from having two children, she got inspired to help others reach their goals.
She got her personal training through ACE and Group X through AFAA and started training at her gym on MCAS Miramar in 2008. Throughout the years she has received certifications in Kickboxing, Spin®, Olympic lifting, HITT, TRX, ACE Life Style Weight and Management, and ACSM Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer. She was a unit pt specialist for the Marine Corps and helped them become combat-ready and injury-free. She now trains a variety of clients that need weight loss, were wounded or injured, and wishes to have a healthier lifestyle. She also loves to teach spin in a variety of Group Classes.
Train for life! Train for longevity and a healthy life, looking great and confidence are just great side effects. My passion in life is to have all my clients reach their goals and help build them a foundation for a healthier and happier lifestyle. Nothing makes me happier than watching a client grow and change into the person they want to be.
Educational, functional, sweaty, and killer fun!

Ang (if you call her Angela she’ll think she’s in trouble) is literally beauty and the beast.
Born and raised in San Diego, she’s been an athlete/coach her entire life: Tae Kwon Do, swimming, soccer, cross country/track, fitness coaching, and more if you can believe it!
Ang is always down for challenge events, from a hard-core MCRD Boot Camp Challenge to fun runs with bubbles and silly costumes. And…she loves mixing it up with boxing, pilates, running, soccer, Spinning, strength training (which BTW, is her favorite to teach and she totally crushes it), TRX, cardio hip-hop, yoga, and everything outdoors. And in her spare time…just kidding – she has none because she’s a wife and mom of 4 and her kids are busy with dance, music, soccer, art, etc..
Being an Educational Psychologist, you can always count on Ang to be compassionate, understanding and motivating. Yes, even when she’s kicking your butt! And yes, that’s another one of her passions. In short, she’s awesome.
Train for life with functional movement incorporating core strength, solid form, and a healthy mindset. A fit body and soul are the best things you can put on daily!
Consistency, commitment, and drive in each and every workout, while maintaining a fun atmosphere where we do our best using multiple fitness tools in a group setting with a goal to keep them coming back for more!
×Bethany grew up in Poway, California and has always been involved in sports and fitness; from gymnastics, to skiing, to playing soccer on scholarship at Biola University.
Like many moms, losing the baby weight was a roller coaster, but under Cat’s direction it finally all clicked, and with that came a desire to help coach others. As an ACE certified personal trainer Bethany is known for absolutely killing it on Small Group and Personal Trainings. And, when it comes to her Spinning® classes expect a fun, high energy packed house!
Whether you’re training for a triathlon, or simply have a desire to lose the baby weight too, this 5 foot bundle of energy will be there to encourage and coach you through it with a lot of laughter along the way.
I love it when people want to work hard! It truly pushes me to push them. But, at the same time I love having the challenge of having someone in my class who needs help with finding modifications. I love helping people to get fit, stronger and happier with their bodies and their whole self!
I love to work as hard as we can right up to the minute! We don’t waste any time. Your time is valuable and so is mine! Let’s get it done, let’s get sweaty, and have a great time while doing it! Nothing deep here! 🙂
×Want to know who the starting pitcher was for any MLB team in 1992? Ask Brian. He seems to know every sports stat out there! Especially for any Boston teams, since that’s where he was born and raised; FANatic about his Red Sox and Pats. He played baseball and football from the time he could run or hold a mitt all the way into college. Speaking of college, Brian has a BA from Colby College in Maine, an MBA from Northeastern and is currently a finance executive at a Fortune 50 company, but one of his favorite accreditations is his newest, his SPINNING® certification!
Despite a heavy interest in athletics and sports, Brian’s weight and fitness level have ebbed and flowed over the years with “rock bottom” coming ~ 5 years ago when he lost his commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Guess where he found that commitment again? Studio SWEAT! With the support, guidance and encouragement from Cat and the amazing trainers at Studio SWEAT, Brian shed close to 60 pounds the RIGHT way – healthy eating, exercise, hard work and a whole lot of fun! Brian LOVES working out, everything sports related and most especially spending time with his family and friends. Oh, and you’ll see when you take his classes they’re pretty hard, but he always inserts a little humor into the mix making them insanely fun.
I train because I want to be healthy, feel good and have the energy to enjoy life. I train because I want to, not because I have to
Tough, fun and motivating!

Experienced, energetic and fun!
×I worked as a technology consultant and engineer for many years, using my Business & Technology Degree from the University of Washington, but after years of doing that I decided that life was too short to keep doing something I didn’t love. I had always been involved in fitness to some degree. My first job at the age of 16 was at a gym in Palmdale, CA. With that said, I dove in and started working on becoming a certified personal trainer to supplement my group fitness instruction.
My first certification was in Spinning because I LOVE SPINNING! Best workout I had ever experienced and loved that anyone could do it and that everyone left looking like they had been hit by a fire hose. I really plunged into the fitness world when I bought my gym in Washington State. Even as the owner managing the business, I continued training clients and leading group exercise. Why? Because THAT is what I love doing.
I’m passionate about it! I live the life and help others do the same. When I moved to San Diego in July of 2009 I really had no intention of opening another operation, but it’s just in my blood. A couple of months later I started leading Fitness Camps, then at the end of February 2010 Studio SWEAT was born. My goal was the same as it always has been. Create a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable no matter what fitness level they currently are. Along with that, show them they are capable of more than they ever imagined. When people walk in the door they feel at home. When they leave they are drenched in sweat and proud of what they just did. I love my job.
You came, you saw, now let’s conquer. BUT, all work and no play makes training no fun so my joy comes in making each workout an experience that includes pushing you to YOUR limit while making sure you feel great about what you accomplished and wanting to come back for more.
Motivating, energetic, entertaining, creative, fickler for form. You never know what to expect, but you can always expect it to be good!
×A driven competitor, Chavva has been a sports lover for as long as she can remember. Her first love was soccer, playing for over 30 years, including college and now plays in a co-ed indoor soccer league with her husband. She also grew up running Track and Cross Country, leading to running races as an adult with distances from 5k to 50 miles!
But as competitive as Chavva is, those weren’t enough, so in her early 20s, she thought it would be fun to learn how to box. After a few years of training, she began to fight competitively. Once she stopped competing, she continued to train younger fighters and also teaches group boxing/kickboxing classes for adults and children.
Chavva received a Bachelor’s Degree from SDSU in Kinesiology for Athletic Training. Because of her love for sports she decided to focus her career on Functional and Sports specific training. She holds certifications including NASM CPT, MDA Spin Instructor, Stages Cycle/Flight Instructor, TRX Instructor.
Chavva currently trains athletes and “non-athletes” in boxing, kickboxing, running, cycling, functional training and general strength and conditioning. She’s an endurance junkie, loving anything that pushes her body and mind to the limits, and is excited to share that passion with you!
Chavva believes that in order to succeed in your fitness goals you always need to challenge yourself and push yourself to be “comfortably uncomfortable.”
Her classes are dynamic, challenging and always fun…oh and sorry if your glutes hurt after every class!
×Canadian born and Chicago raised! Her love for athletics was handed down to her by her incredibly talented parents. She grew up playing sports year round and being raised in a city with one of the best sports cultures to date.
Elli’s husband and she relocated to San Diego going on 4 years ago and are enjoying raising their three kids there! She says, “It’s truly my passion just to make sure people have a great time while getting their body moving! I lead with my heart and never give up on those I’m invested in. My favorite part of any industry I’ve worked in is the connections I’ve made. I love being a constant in someone’s journey through health and I did that long before I became a certified instructor. I look forward to the ways I can continue to make an impact! I’m new to the industry but not the idea. I am SO excited to learn, grow and be a part of the Studio SWEAT team!”
Have fun. Honestly! I like to smile when I sweat. We spend so much time being tense or stressed, when I come to the gym to teach I want it to be the best part of your day! Your family away from your family. I like to be silly and keep it light so as you truly feel the burn and the pain of a good workout you also feel the fun of pushing yourself to incredible limits. It makes it light and it makes it fun. If I can push you 2 minutes longer or 15 reps more without you knowing it, I’m doing my job right. Plus, throwing in a little dance move never hurt nobody!
BUSY. I like a lot of compound movements, intervals and rotating stations. If I can change it up and keep my team engaged then we are all having fun.

Being a self-taught videographer, editor, and director, he continues to learn and hone his skills through real-world experiences. As the head of Studio SWEAT onDemand video production you’ll find him busy at work on class production, preview clips, promotional videos and more! He also plays a key role in the social networking and marketing of Studio SWEAT and Studio SWEAT onDemand. To add to this, Eric is also a certified personal trainer, as his work with Studio SWEAT has encouraged him to learn more about fitness and nutrition.

×When you meet Fred, the first thing you will notice is his passion for exercise. And no surprise – he has been into fitness since the age of 12 when he traded his bicycle to a neighborhood friend for a weight-lifting set (adding to his existing collection). Every day as a kid, he knocked on every door in the neighborhood, gathering other kids to play football and baseball in the street, and lift weights after.
As a high school football stand-out, Fred earned a scholarship to Northwest Community College and THE Ohio State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Sports Leisure Management.
Fred REALLY loves being around people, exercising, and creating a safe environment, so he got his ACE Personal Training Certification while coaching high school football. Falling in love with group exercise after taking his first indoor cycling class, he wasted no time getting Keiser and Stages Cycling Certifications. The rest is history.
Fred’s teaching style combines high energy music with his high energy vibe, adding a positive outlook on life and his charming personality. His objective is always to push you to YOUR limits – not his or the person next to you…yours!
“Smile every day and grow!” And we promise you will be smiling through all the sweat when you take Fred’s classes!

×Born & raised in the Oregon rain, to relocate to Cali sunshine and blue skies! This girl grew up in the beautiful outdoors of the PNW. Running outside in the rain, snow, gray to playing sports(soccer/basketball) in college, and pursuing a B.S. Nursing degree. Once graduated and moved to San Diego for some much needed sunshine and beginning her ER Nurse career, life happened. Working in a chaotic, stressful environment, she needed an outlet & needed to get back to a fit lifestyle. Her Friend and fellow SSoD trainer Elli, convinced her to try out Studio SWEAT, for a first time spin class two years ago. After this first class, the rest is history.
Studio SWEAT has changed my life and given me my groove back. Spinning became a 5 day a week outlet and it worked. The lifestyle to change to happy, healthy and stress free from exercise was key. After a year of being a client at Studio SWEAT, Jessica flipped the script and got her NASM CPT certification, a TRX Cert and eventually her Spinning Certification. Once she felt like Studio SWEAT was her home and she could help change lives and lifestyles for the better outside of the hospital setting she was hooked! All Jessica has ever wanted is to help people, take care of people and educate people on how to live their best lives.
Exercise to me is meant to relieve stress, get outside of your own head and daily life for that moment, live in the now, be present and let that sh*t go and if you get fit in the process and feel like the best version of you, then success is had.
My style has always been slap on that smile, crank up some good tunes and Jam! I write every class to have a good time. I want every class to forget about their day, and just be present in the dance it out of class, SWEAT out toxins and build some much needed muscle and tone to our bodies to stay up right and taking nourishment. I want you to feel stronger after every class, I want you to feel happy and high on endorphins after every ride. My promise is to always make you smile and laugh at my comedic hour of class.

When it comes to Jessica (who was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, but is now living in San Diego) you can almost always expect to see a smile on her face, but if she is put to the test her competitive nature takes over and her game face is on!
She’s been involved in sports and fitness forever! She played volleyball throughout school, did some amateur boxing, and even loves and takes on challenges like marathons, sprint-triathlons, bikini competitions and more.
She started her adult life by getting her B.A. in Communications, then ventured into the mortgage and insurance industry, and is now an avid Health and Wellness Coach, mentoring people to lead fabulous lives aiming to help them achieve their goals from the inside out.
With a husband and 3 busy young kids Jessica say’s, “It’s my mission to have enough energy and strength to keep up for my family, my fitness and my business.” In the end Jessica just strongly believes that fitness is a journey, and all one’s goals can be achieved with consistency, dedication and heart. Amen to that sister!
I love HIIT! Hearts pumping, sweat dripping and pushing yourself to a level you never thought possible. High energy, great beats and loads of fun!
I strongly believe fitness is a journey that never ends! You can achieve any of your goals with consistency, dedication, heart and a healthy mindset. Whatever your mind imagines, your body will achieve.
×I grew up in West Linn, Oregon (which is a small suburb of Portland). I enjoyed playing sports growing up (swimming, baseball, bowling) though I was not fantastic at any of them. I never was terribly committed to fitness and exercise when I was younger.
After high school, I joined the Marine Corps and spent just over seven years on active duty. I got to “see the world” (to be fair, I had never been on an airplane or even out of the Pacific Time Zone prior to that). Despite deploying 4 times, San Diego County was where I was stationed and had basically become home. I was fortunate to find a full-time job here after I transitioned out of the Marine Corps.
Like a lot of people, my post-military life was busy and I struggled to keep a regular workout routine for about 10 years. After going to the doctor, I found out that I was quite a bit overweight and was headed towards a life of medications. I knew a change was needed.
My wife and I started working on our diet as well as working out at home with Beachbody® workouts like Insanity and P90X and that helped to get the weight down and get healthier. After a while, a neighbor of ours encouraged my wife to try out Studio Sweat. And eventually, I came too. Safe to say, we have always felt at home here.
After watching my wife be successful and happy to teach, and after realizing that helping train people at my work was the most rewarding part of my job, I decided to get certified in 2022. I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience so far and getting to bring my own personality along with all the experience from working with the other fantastic instructors past and present.
In addition to Spin®, I also enjoy resistance training, running, and hiking. I am a father of 3 (1 son, 2 daughters) and have been married since 2007
Training Philosophy
Not every workout has to your best-ever. Often, our “failure” comes from believing that we have to keep getting bigger/stronger/faster and it’s discouraging when you “come up short”. So much of your success is the mental aspect of the workout, your attitude, and your commitment to being out of your comfort zone. I want you to use exercise (no matter how intense) to stimulate your body AND your mind.
Training Style
Focus on efficient movement no matter what implements (bike, tread, weights, TRX, etc.) you are using. Have fun, smile, and work hard.

Mike has a Ph.D. is and is a Learning Researcher who focuses on neuroscience and human development. He is a certified Spinning® instructor, a USPTA Tennis Professional and an avid cyclist, runner, swimmer, and golfer. His unique style often brings road rides into the Studio, and his sense of humor keeps his class focused and entertained at the same time.
The goal of training is to remove the need for a trainer. This is done over time by transitioning from extrinsic to intrinsic motivation — working out because we can — not because we have to. If someone has to scream at you to motivate you, you are not yet ready to transition from exerciser to athlete.
Sublime. Cycling is not complete unless the body is joined by the heart and mind during a ride. This is done by focusing on tempo. Riding is rhythm.

The energy I put out is what I get in return. I am all about pushing you to the max but doing it with a smile. I love to work hard and truly enjoy watching people push themselves harder than they thought they could. I believe there is a true gain of fitness when that happens and am syked to be a part of it.
It’s all about rhythm! I teach most of my classes to the beat to keep you motivated and working hard.

×Monica’s contagious smile and bright spirit fills a room. She grew up in the sunshine state (California), which may explain her happy energy! She’s been fortunate enough to have the great outdoors, from the mountains to the sand dunes, to explore her entire life with her friends and family, which includes 2 very active children!
Along with being a Spinning instructor she’s got a full-time career in the corporate world, and believes that the only way you can keep up with everything you want from life is by having a healthy fitness level. Giving yourself and your body the attention it needs to feel good about yourself.
Spinning is, by far, her favorite workout, and she’s tried them all! She says, “Feeling the energy around me when I was taking a great spin class with a top-notch instructor made me want to get certified to teach. I don’t get any greater pleasure than leading a group of athletes who enjoy a challenge and have a great time doing it!”
Have fun, embrace and challenge what your body is capable of when training and eating right.
I have been told that my classes are incredibly fun, but also very challenging.
×Olga grew up in the Ukraine and struggled with her weight as a child often “Yo-Yoing” with fad diets. When she came to the U.S. in 1996 – she was at her heaviest and took control! She joined a gym, hired a personal trainer, got smart about nutrition and got ADDICTED to spinning. Like a lot of us – she loves the sound of clipping in! Spinning helped Olga drop 100 pounds and stay fit.
After filling in to teach a class one day, Olga got certified as a spin instructor and eventually Pilates, bosu and TRX. She is also continuing her Physical Therapy education at SDSU. She loves her family and friends and teaching people – helping them to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
If you haven’t taken a class from Olga, you should know – she’s tough, motivational and a whole lotta crazy! And that’s why we love her.
I believe with proper training anyone can achieve any goal.
Challenging, fun, and always with major focus on the form.
×Former NCAA Champion / Olympic Trainee Rower, Rebecca finds instructing extremely rewarding. It allows her to elevate the performance of others while providing them a constant challenge. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a major in International Relations and a minor in Germanic Studies, while competing four years in Division I Rowing as a walk on.
An ongoing Ironman participant, she knows how to bring out your absolute best in every workout! There is never a shortage of enthusiasm or energy with this one. As a mother of three awesome kiddos every free moment is spent enjoying her family! She also enjoys teaching children’s art classes, in addition to leading groups in both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Rebecca’s current goal is to qualify for the Kona World Championships.
If you need a motivational push to jump start your workouts here’s the perfect fit!
I love the saying perfect practice makes perfect….not
Practice makes perfect.
You must train the way you want to perform. Focus on all aspects of your goals not just one.
You cannot train 80% most of the time and expect to have your 100% effort improve. To get the results I want I usually have to work 3-4x harder than I ever thought…
I train side by side with every one of my clients (which sometimes is very hard at the end of the day when your body thinks it has given everything it has to give.) But it’s the perfect motivator because if I can do it you can do it. I don’t ever ask my clients to do something I cannot do with them and show them proper form before, and during. I think that’s why I love what I do so much 😛
It’s totally interactive not just telling someone: ” do 20 push-ups, 10 burpies then …..”
×Sam, a Southern California native with an extensive background in dance, has a serious passion for fitness and specializes in High-Intensity Interval Training, Strength Work, Kettlebells, and Pilates. She began young, dancing and skiing at age 3, and has been hooked on body movement ever since.
I am all about the “why” in fitness! We’re obviously going to have fun and work hard, but it’s extra important to me that we understand why and how each exercise is performed. I’m big on progressions, corrections, and hands-on adjustments & assists.
My training style is, progressive, creative, and athletic. I have a lot to say and am constantly cueing throughout my workouts. Prepare to learn, sweat, and leave feeling invigorated!

I was born in Japan and came to the United States with my family for my father’s occupation when I was just 3 years old. I’ve lived in San Diego most of my life. After getting my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at CSU San Marcos and getting my Certification in Child Development at Palomar College, I taught preschool for about 7 years. “Teaching has been a passion of mine.”
I was never involved in any extracurricular activities that involved physical fitness when I went to school. I struggled with my weight most of my life. Nobody really taught me the importance of fitness and exercise.
After having my daughter in 2011, I went to the doctor’s to get a yearly physical exam. My weight and my blood work were off the chart! My doctor told me I was going to be on medications for the rest of my life if I didn’t lose weight. “I don’t want to be on medications for the rest of my life” so I decided to take action. I knew I wanted to be fit, but also be strong. I thought to myself, “I want to be there when my kids graduate from school, get married and have kids, and just generally enjoy life.
I got certified in Spin in 2019 through Madd Dogg Athletics and I love teaching, helping and motivating people. I also teach Water Aerobics. I love getting people FIRED UP – it should never be a chore to work out. I love coming to work every day and putting a smile on people’s faces while they sweat!
Progress, not perfection.
Challenging, fun and making you feel that “good” sore feeling after my sweaty workouts.
×Tatiana says, “Exercise and nutrition have been my passions my entire life.” She is a NASM certified personal trainer with a degree in Kinesiology Pre-Physical Therapy. She also teaches barre, Pilates, bootcamp, suspension, kettlebell, Spinning and battle rope group exercise classes.
Tati, as we like to call her, competed in gymnastics for her entire childhood and most of her teen years. She says that, “gymnastics has had a huge influence in teaching me about proper body alignment and the importance of form. It has also taught me the importance of implementing core strength and flexibility in your daily fitness routine. It taught me a lot about pushing myself, about patience, about not giving up on your goals, and about the desire to become your very best self.” During this time she was required to do a lot of rehabilitation exercises which inspired her to major in Kinesiology, Pre-Physical Therapy at San Diego State University. There she studied biomechanics of the human body, anatomy, physiology, sports psychology, nutrition, corrective, functional and adaptive exercise techniques and much more over the course of four years.
Studying the human body and the impacts various exercise styles, movements, and foods have on it brought Tatiana to where she is today and she truly believes that exercise is the best medicine. “The energy you feel when your exerting yourself and working your hardest, especially around people with similar goals and mindsets is truly addicting.”
Train the same, stay the same. Every workout should be slightly different, rather it’s a different cadence, different amount of reps, different exercise entirely, different challenge or just going into your workout with a different mindset. We are ever evolving, and should continue to push ourselves as so and be open to new styles, new experiences, and new opportunities both in and out of the gym to continue progressing.
Perfect form and alignment, mixed with innovative exercises, and a don’t stop mentality.
