PROBABLY! HERE’S HOW (& WHY) TO USE IT.
Did you know your indoor cycling bike probably has an emergency brake? You likely won’t crash while riding a stationary bike, so why do you need this feature? Master Mike has a quick Trainer Tip on why and how to use it!
Why would you need an E-Brake?
If you’re riding fast on an indoor cycle, whether you’re wearing clipped-in cycling shoes, or athletic shoes using a pedal cage, it’s possible that your foot could pop out with the pedals still flying. Rather than spin out of control with one foot until the pedal naturally slows down, a brake is a much safer way to regain control.
How do you engage the brake?
On most Spin bikes, the brake is the same mechanism as the gear shift. To engage the brake you simply push straight down on the dial. If your bike doesn’t have a dial gear shift with an incorporated brake, be sure to find out how to quick-stop the pedals before hopping on that open road.
