Everyone knows Trainer Rebecca as Studio SWEAT onDemand’s fitness machine. Between motivation and instruction, Rebecca keeps the Komrades pushing to their limits and begging for more! When jumping into one of Rebecca’s Spin classes, you can always expect a racing heartbeat, shaky legs, and jello arms… but who is Rebecca off the bike?
Let’s find out!
1. What is your idea of perfect bliss?
Easy. My idea of perfect bliss is getting paid to do what I love. I get out of bed every morning ready to tackle that sunrise run or bike ride and most importantly, I get to share this gift with everyone around me. Most of my relationships come from fitness, like my husband who I met at the USC gym my freshman year or my kids who have inherited my competitive nature! Working out definitely increases that emotional bond and I’m blessed to have a job that I’m passionate about!
2. What historical figure do you look up to?
“The only thing you’ll regret later in life are the things you didn’t do.”
Abe Lincoln possessed character traits that I value in people and in myself. His determination to live up to his legendary commitment, honesty, as well as insisting on expecting the best of himself, are attributes I choose to emulate in my own sphere. Honest means being true to yourself and by living each day with genuine transparency, I get to reveal my true character and practice candor over slander. By raising the bar high and setting challenges, I get to engage in opportunities many don’t get to experience. This year in November, I’ll be running in the “World Toughest Mudder” in Vegas which is a 24-hour ultra-endurance race! I hope to be the first woman to reach 100 miles because like my man Abe, I’m not settling for mediocrity!
3. If you had one superpower, what would it be?
If I could choose one superpower, it’d be to fly! Also, if I could be one superhero, it would hands down be Superman. Love him or hate him, anyone would be Superman if they had the chance. The nerd who can take off his glasses, be ideal and use his powers for the greater good instead of personal interest?! What a guy!
I’d also consider being Flash but I’m already super fast. 😉
4. What’s your favorite kind of music and why?
My musical taste varies between music your grandmother would like and listen to or music that would make her want to go to church. 😉 My playlists consist of soaring opera sonnets, as well as filthy rap anthems. Also… just the thought of Michael Bolton equals guilty pleasure. Although I know better than to play his music in class, he’s my favorite artist to run or listen to at all other hours of the day!
5. Which words or phrases do you overuse the most?
“Get it done and then some!” “Awesome Sauce!” “It’s supposed to burn.”
I clearly live off of SSoD motivational quotes and although some might find them corny, mind truly does affect the body and you’d be shocked to know how effective these positive affirmations are! By utilizing affirmations during a workout, it radiates your thoughts and helps you reach your true potential!
6. Describe the workout that you’ve designed that you love the most.
When tackling a designed workout, I prefer something tough. I want to train so hard that I make Komrades crawl out of the gym and get crushed. A workout that consists of no equipment, no stopping, and where you blast all your muscles to full exhaustion and mentally fade before you let the physical die out. A workout that makes your eyes tear, your mouth dry, and your hands sweat is my kind of workout!
7. Which talent would you most like to have?
I wish I lived a life on the fast track and pursued a career in race car driving! I’ve heard about all the risks but the thrills and challenges overpower my fears and I truly believe I have the nerves of steel to pull it off. Also… have any of you tried indoor skydiving?! Although I seem more like the “outdoor skydiving” type, indoor skydiving provides more freefall time as well as a bigger chance to learn some cool backflips and air tricks without suffering the consequences…and it certainly correlates with my answer to the superpower question! 😉
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Three just isn’t enough! I wish I could have more children. Parenthood doesn’t come with a handbook, but that’s what makes motherhood so rewarding and adventurous. It’s truly the most beautiful experience and although it comes with sleep deprivation, expensive toys that’ll be played with once, and constantly cleaning up messes, it’s a trip I’d take again. Also, if I had the opportunity to do it all over again, I’d be the good cop for once and take them to “In N Out” while my husband plays the bad cop and punishes them with an infinite amount pushups!
