As admitted fitness aficionados, we at Studio SWEAT onDemand are always looking for the next big thing, the next revolutionary discovery, and the next important movement in our industry. And we like to think we’ve done a pretty good job of it. As one of the early innovators in the virtual fitness arena, we’ve been at the forefront of delivering onDemand workouts straight into our members’ living rooms; and with SWEAT Pro, our commercial fitness program, we offer the same fully immersive fitness experiences to facilities such as exercise studios, health clubs, housing communities, universities, and more.
Which is why we’re ecstatic to be at the forefront of what we believe to be the next great workout idea — Fitness Fusion! Fitness Fusion workouts are a simple concept, and yet come with so many unbelievable benefits, it’s a wonder that every sized gym hasn’t come on board yet (trust us, they will). So to explain a little more about why Fusion workouts are so very special, let’s start with a simple introduction.
What Is Fitness Fusion?
Simply put, a fusion workout is when two, usually quite different, types of workouts are combined into an all new fitness experience. This combination means that participants reap the rewards of not one, but two different areas of exercise at the same time. So whereas one workout may involve weight training and strength building, another may focus on cardiovascular health. In short, we get the best of both worlds in every workout. But that’s not the only noticeable benefit of fusion workouts…
The Benefits of Fusion Workouts
Elevated Fitness Level: In fitness, as with most things, whenever we challenge our mind and body to expand to a higher level of performance, we elevate our skills and abilities. With Fitness Fusion, it’s no different — every time we get into a fusion workout, we’re pushing our body away from homeostasis (in other words, your comfort zone), into some real gains. This new found challenge may come a bit slowly at first, but stick with it, and positive changes come in no time.
Helping Prevent Injury: As fitness experts, there’s nothing we dislike more than incidences of preventable injuries, and it turns out that some of the most common of these occur while repeating the same movement, over and over. When we get complicit with our workouts, going through the same motions repeatedly, our minds may wander, causing us to forget to pay attention and voila — a perfectly preventable injury occurs. But when we dive into a fusion workout, we’re always kept on our toes, literally and figuratively, resulting in less injury.
Improved Posture & Coordination: When we vary our workouts, we extend our body’s ability to perform in a number of ways. Most notably, we gain better posture and improved coordination. A good fusion workout puts us in touch with parts of our body and musculature that we’re not used to, making us more aware of our movements. And the stretching involved in many fusion exercises leads to higher flexibility, and better posture all around.
Boosting Mental Strength: When it comes to our brains and general cognitive function, the old adage, “use it or lose it,” rings true. Yet another benefit of fusion workouts is that through the constant challenge of multiple workout movements intersecting alongside each other, we’re pushing our mental boundaries at the same time as pushing our physical ones.
Faster Recovery: In cases of illness, injury, or extended soreness, fitness fusion workouts should definitely be part of the future. Fusion workouts extend our bodies in a multitude of ways, which force them to meet the challenges head on. This dexterity leads to lower incidence of soreness, as well as improvements to our immune systems.
